Au Doan Chi Lang, established in May 1996, is organized as part of the World Scouting movement. Based on Rudyard Kipling’s Jungle Book, a pack of young wolves, or soi con, is under the leadership and guidance of Akela, Raksha, Bagheera, Baloo, Hathi, and other Soi Gia.
All boys are organized into Bay Lac Long that consists of four Dan- Den, Nau, Xam, and Trang. All girls are organized into Bay Au Co that consists of four Dan- Hong, Tim Vang, and Xanh.
Each Dan has a Dau Dan (DD) and Thu Dan (TD).There is a Dau Kieu Mau (DKM) for Bay Au Co and Bay Lac Long.
The purpose in Au Doan is to introduce the Soi Con to the patrol method. Through the programs, Soi Con may develop the following:
1. Self reliance
2. Teamwork
3. Confidence
4. Leadership
Huong Dao is an unique opportunity for parents to spend quality time with their child in a productive and meaningful way. Parents along with the scout leaders will have a chance to teach the young scouts positive values and skills that will last a lifetime. Through the activities with the scout leaders at meeting, Soi Con will learn lifelong values and skills while participating in outdoor activities. In addition, scouting will strengthen family bondings as activities are set up to encourage parents to work with their child(ren).
This age group requires parental involvement. Therefore, it’s important for all parents to help out with the meetings or events rather than just dropping you kid off.
Au Doan meetings are based on the Jungle Book as well. Leaders are known for their jungle animal names who take care of their little wolves or soi con.
Soi Con are organized by their den colors. Each morning, they meet in their caves where they put their backpacks, snacks and flag.
